Producer: Chateau Musar
Hochar Pere et Fils Red is sometimes mistakenly referred to as the ‘second wine’ of Chateau Musar but this is not an accurate description.
This rich and spicy red, a blend of Carignan, Cabernet sauvignon, and Cinsault, comes from one of the oldest wine-growing regions in the world: the Bekaa Valley. Originially cultivated by the Phoenecians, vines in the region have a long and storied history of over 6,000 years. The Hochar family, who own Château Musar, are themselves French in origin, having arrived in Lebanon with the crusades.
Complex nose of red cherries, sweet smoke and cinnamon spice aromas. Cherry notes, subtle eartly characters and the rich, concentrated palate- it is all at once fruity, fresh and elegant, certainly a food wine with quite a long finish.
Food Suggestions: ideal for casseroles, roasted meats, tune steaks and Mediterranean dishes
