Producer: JEAN DURUP
One of the oldest wine making families in Chablis, Domaine Jean Durup has been cultivating the regions vines for centuries. Today they are on their fourteenth generation, and create some of the purest expressions of Chardonnay found in Burgundy. The family has grown their property steadily over time, and is now the largest estate in Chablis. The diversity of their range incorporates Grand and Premier Cru wine making, alongside village wines and Petit Chablis. At every level they are dedicated to quality, and cut no corners to achieve this.
“It seems that over the past decades we have done everything right,” points out owner Jean-Paul Durup who can look back on a long family history in wine growing and cultivation. “My great grandfather cultivated the Domaine Chateau de Maligny, which was reassembled and restored to its old glory by our family. Before the year 1968 we owned two ha, now the estate covers 203 ha, making us the largest proprietor in the region. 35 ha alone are located in premier cru terroir.”
