Producer : SARDUS PATER
Cantina Sardus Pater, is one of Italy’s most prolific cooperatives, which prides itself on dedication to both tradition and quality. Situated on the island of St Antioco, on the south-western part of Sardinia, they produce wines that celebrate the Island. Volcanic minerality is the common theme in Sardinian wine; the island’s soil created by centuries of Volcanic eruptions. They produce this particular wine from ‘Carignano’ which is a Sardinian clone of the French grape Carignan. Carignano has a strong reputation in the vineyards of South-West Sardinia, where the sandy soil was never struck by disease like the rest of Europe – a wealth of old vines and history.
It is this history that Sardus Pater emphasises with their blends. They work with a wealth of local growers, many of whom have been farming the same land for generations. They actively encourage the planting of local varietals, and above all they are resolute in their quest for quality.
