Producer : Tenuta Oliveto
Founded in 1994 with the purchase of an old vineyard, Tenuta Oliveto had its fair share of challenges when it was established. Long-neglected, the new owners undertook a programme of redevelopment that lasted nearly four years, producing the estate’s first vintage only in 1997 – a warm, over-ripe year, which did not produce wines of great finesse. 1999, however, was a different story: the family got their chance to producer a Brunello of excellent quality, thanks to a long, slow, cool growing season. This Brunello shows all of the classic bright cherry and strawberry characteristics, along with dusty rose petal and touches of spices and toastiness from the large-format Slavonian oak barrels used in production.
