Producer: Domaine Darviot-Perrin
Founded in 1989 by Didier (Darviot) and his wife Geneviève (née-Perrin), this is a meticulous producer that creates fine, pure, and focussed wines of both colours. Though based in Monthélie and with a majority of their holdings in Mersault, Darviot-Perrin make a few reds, of which their Volnay and Beaune are well-regarded. An excellent wine to drink now, this Beaune has pure and intense aromas and flavours of red currant, cherry, and spice, with a lingering and fruity finish. The third year in a row of challenging ‘growers’ vintages’ with low yields, this is a wine to savour alongside ’06s and ’07s.
Suggested pairing: Délice de Bourgogne cheese and thinly sliced smoked duck breast
