Producer : Elio Altare
Once a young rogue who garnered interest (and his fair share of criticism) for making a pilgrimage to Burgundy (sleeping in his car), and bringing Burgundian techniques back to Barolo, Elio Altare is now celebrated as a true legend of Piemontese winemaking. His Barolos are often lauded as some of the best wines in Italy, thanks to their vivid character and silky texture. With daughter Silvia soon to take over the reigns at this winery, don’t miss your chance to taste some of Elio’s earliest (and harder to find) vintages, like this 1995.
