Producer: Michele Chiarlo
Michele Chiarlo grows his grapes in the six hectare vineyard of Tenuta la Court in the commune of Castelnuovo Calcea, one of the 18 designated communes within the appellation of Nizza DOCG. The vineyard soils are known as ‘Astiane Sands’ and consist of calcareous clay marl with a good presence of lime and sand; they are rich in microelements, in particular magnesium, essential for natural vine growth. These soils produce ample, intense and elegant wines of good structure, yet they are also fresh. This is demonstrated in this silky-smooth Barbera which shows wonderful clarity and elegance.
Intense and elegant notes of small black fruits, rubarb and chocolate, silky and fresh persistent long-lasting finish.
Food suggestion: Roasted meat with sauce, braised lamb and well-matured cheeses
