Producer: Domaine de La Begude
Domaine de la Begude is a picturesque estate in Provence’s acclaimed Bandol region with original plantings dating back to the 18th Century. Their vineyards are certified organic, with biodynamic practice, and sit 400m above sea level at the highest point of Bandol, giving natural exposure to the Mistral wind. Respect of the environment is the core value of Domaine de la Begude, and they take a low intervention approach from vine to bottle.
The wines are fresh and vibrant, with a backbone of acidity and a plush, yet reserved, fruit character. Ripeness of fruit in the blend is encouraged to a point, but these wines are designed with balance and age-ability. The Rosé is deceptive due to its darker colour, but don’t be fooled, this is a very dry, crisp, characterful and elegant wine! Perfect for food, and even better drunk on its own!
Food pairing: tapa or any heartier starter, grilled fish, ratatouille
